Secret Resorts in Germany A Checklist to Find Them Part 4 of 4Marcus Hochstadt

*Final Issue with the German Hotel Classification and the overall checklist*

To cut a long story short, here we go :-)

—————————
German Hotel Classification
—————————

A quite good indicator to select and find Secret Resorts in Germany is our German Hotel Classification. It’s masterminded by the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA).

1996 they established their classification “code”. Their assessment is based exclusively on objective criteria. Individual evaluations are emotional and subjective. This is why the hotel rating does not mirror subjective aspects.

And you specifically can use this system as one more criteria on selecting and finding the Secret Resorts of your dreams.

They categorize hotels in a 5-Star segment. Each hotel classified by the DEHOGA has a signal outside their hotel, mostly close to their entrance. On that plate you see immediately how many Stars this hotel has, given by the DEHOGA.

See it however as a short message about quality standards of that hotel.

The range goes from 1 to 5 Stars, whereby a Wellness Hotel with 5 Stars might be a Secret Resort. You will however also find Secret Resorts with a 3-Star plate outside. But they should not have a plate less than 3-Stars, okay?

Good. In Germany however are some TOP-hotels without this plate, because they assign to have “their own” classification code.

Anyway, as I already told you this is only “one more” indicator for your selection.

For more details about our German Hotel Classification go to their official website at www.hotelsterne.de/englisch/index-englisch.html and browse through their descriptions.

So, finally we can go now to the overall checklist of how to find Secrets Resorts in Germany. With that checklist handy you surely will find the Wellness Hotel of your dreams. Simply print this page out and check each point.

Enough the fluff, here we go… ;-)

———
Checklist
———

*Step 1 - Environment*

- Location, Location, Location! The Secret Resort should not be on or near a high traffic street

- Layout Plan; to see where the Secret Resort is located

- With their addresses handy go online and do a research on a route planner by yourself (I have recently produced a video on how to use our German route planners. You can watch it for free by simply signing up for my free monthly Special Report at http://www.smart-travel-germany.com/smart-travel-guide.html )

- make sure the wellness hotel is located near a forest or at least far away of ‘daily traffic’

*Step 2 - Age and Condition*

- when were the Secret Resorts built?

- when were they reconditioned the last time?

- last recondition should have been within the last, better six years

- do you find the beauty of the hotel outside or inside? (should be inside; you don’t sleep and get treatened outside, do you?!)

*Step 3 - Wellness Sector*

- Sauna; at least two, better four AND INSIDE the house (not a few miles to drive)

- Solarium; if desirable

- Massage; this is absolutely a MUST have! Here also: IN-house

- Pools; also, should have been reconditioned recently

Thats it! Slap your back, we have covered a lot!

Now that you know how you find real Secret Resorts in Germany, I wish you a great trip and a pleasant stay!

Send me your experiences! I’m hot to get to know them! Go to the contact page on my website and submit your travel reports. Tell me what you have seen and experienced so far.

Secret Resorts in Germany A Checklist to Find Them Part 3 of 4Marcus Hochstadt

Step 3 — The Wellness Sector

Ready for the third part? Ookay, here we go :-)

The Wellness Sector is one of the most important indicators for selecting the Secret Resorts of your dreams.

What do you have of it if the location is TOP and the facilities are new, but the Wellness Sector consists, lets say… only of a Sauna and a small pool? You might feel relaxed only superficially. The consequence: Grind is pre-programmed. A pool and a Sauna are not sufficient.

I for myself know by own experiences that some of those so called Secret Resorts only use their title, because they have installed a sauna recently, and outside you have the freshest air in whole Germany they write in their brochures.

So what?! Of course, fresh air outside is good. No doubt. You go out, take a deep breath and exhale. Do that a lot of times during your stay and it will give your inner cells and immune system a huge kick into recovery and health. And you know, I am not talking about fresh air in cities but about real fresh air in forests regions.

By the way, visit our Black Forest (for more details visit http://www.smart-travel-germany.com/black-forest.html ) and you know what I am talking about.

But, however, what has fresh air to do with the Secret Resort itself? You do not sleep outside, do you? There might be days where you mostly stay inside and let yourself spoil like a Queen/King. And you might not be able to it if there is anything but a Wellness Sector at all.

And most of all, why do they call their shack a Secret Resort with just a Sauna inside? What a cheek! You book, arrive and expect to be spoiled for the next three weeks, but all you get is a sauna and maybe ‘fresh water’ in a pool and fresh air outside. You deserve much more than that. And believe me, there is good news: it is possible :-)

Okay, what now comes is a checklist in a checklist :-)

You should find the following in a Wellness Sector:

1. Sauna - yes, but at least two, better four; with different temperature ranges and smells. A plus: if besides that another external area is present (for cooling). A health-scientific description of correct application should be present additionally. You surely would not like to terminate the sauna with a cold, but healthier than before, would you?

2. Solarium just in case you want a tan additionally. I know people whose energy rose after an attendance in a Solarium. Its not a must, but good Secret Resorts have.

3. Massage here the chaff separates from the wheat. Relaxation starts with a good long intense massage. A hotel, which calls itself ‘Wellness’, MUST offer massage. Make sure the massage is held daily and in the house. It would be disturbing, if you would have to drive to another place. That way the relaxation of the massage treatment would get lost fast.

4. Pools good Secret Resorts have pools. Ensure that the pools are not old. If you find different pools besides that with e.g. different smells, that is a plus therefore very pleasant and relaxing.

Again, besides all that stuff, everything written here should be in-house! You dont want to have to drive to a next town or village, do you?

Allright. We have covered a lot.

Look forward to my last issue on how to find awesome German Secret Resorts.

In that you will get to know what another indicator of good Secret Resort is, in terms of our Hotel Classifications.

Finally you will get an overall checklist which you can keep handy. It will safe you a bunch of time, trust me.

Anyhow, enjoy your trip(s)! :o )

Secret Resorts in Germany A Checklist to Find Them Part 2 of 4Marcus Hochstadt

In the first part of the Secret Resorts in Germany article I went into details of the environment of those Wellness Hotels. I told you how it should be in terms of building deep relaxing and precious moments.

In this second part you are going to find out why it is important to look at the age and condition of your prospective Wellness Hotel.

Step 2 — Age and condition of Secret Resorts

Often in pictures it is difficult to recognize how the condition of the Secret Resorts is. Like I already mentioned, in the high polish brochures you see the most beautiful pictures. The Hotel shows up from its most beautiful side. Often they do not show the reality which you find locally. Sometimes the pictures are so old that they hush up the current condition of the hotel.

It is absolutely disappointing when you arrive expectantly at the Secret Resorts of your choice and discover how filthy and old the equipments are. In a smeared bath tub it does not relax so well as in a new, shining bath tub, right?

Okay. And how do you find out now whether the Secret Resorts corresponds to your high expectations?

–> Find out when the Secret Resorts was reconditioned the last time

In any case it should have been reconditioned within the last ten, better six years.

If it were reconditioned for example in the year 1984, you surely won’t just find old bath tubs, but in vain you are looking for a Wellness Paradise (what I mean by Wellness Paradise? More on this later).

On the other hand if the Secret Resorts was reconditioned however in the last five years, the probability is huge that you find everything you need for a relaxing and restful stay.

Why? Look, if it were reconditioned five years ago, the owner of the hotel will have made sure that he let insert the most modern devices and bath tubs. Five years ago there were very efficient and effective Wellness devices (e.g. Sauna, Whirlpools, etc.). The owner of the Secret Resorts who reconditioned recently wants to guarantee that they spoil their guests. They invest into their business and future.

I do not want to claim that all owners of Secret Resorts who reconditioned 20 years ago are not ready to invest into their future. Some of them just have no money for it. And why do they not have the money? Because they have too few guests thus too little sales. And why do they have too little guest/sales?

One reason: their devices are too old.

You see, it is a vicious circle. Not every owner of a Secret Resorts is at the same time also an entrepreneur. Some just did not learn how to deal with the needs of their guests. That is it, what I meant above with ’service desert’ ; -)

So make sure that the Secret Resorts of your desire were reconditioned recently. Your stay will run multiple more fascinating.

Anyway, this was the second part of my checklist to find the Secret Resorts in Germany. In the next two parts I will go in details to the wellness sector and the hotel classifications.

Enjoy your trip!
